General Information - Barangay Embarcadero is located in the Poblacion along Carrascal River. It is on the right side if one enters the Poblacion. It is between Barangay Saca and Barangay Doyos, both are also Poblacion Barangays. Based on NSO 2000 Census, the population of barangay is 664 with 124 households. The education need of the barangay are served by the Carrascal Elementary School and Carrascal National High School.

Physical Features - The total land area of this barangay is 300 hectares, 5% of which is used for agriculture, 0.6% for commercial and 56% residential.

Topography, elevation, & Slope classification - The terrain characteristic is 100% plain / flat.

Climate Type - Type II no dry season with very pronounced maximum rainfall from November to January.

Rainfall - The annual average rainfall is 5013.9mm. In the year 200, heavy rain occurred in January while rainfall slows down during December. Drought was experienced in 2000 during the months of May and June that is distinct from the rest of the yearly data presentation for four (4) years. Heavy rains occur usually in December, January and February while its lowest level takes place usually on the month of June. In 2001, heavy rains fell on the month of December contrary to the rainfall pattern in 2000. Similar to year 2000, the lowest level of rainfall happens in June for the year 2003. On a yearly comparison, it was in 2001 that highest level of rainfall takes place while the lowest level happened in 2000 due to the drought experienced for two (2) consecutive months.

Water and Marine Resources - Carrascal river.

Population and Household Size - Barangay Embarcadero has a total population of 628, comprising of 124 households with an average household size of 4.

Its constituents mostly originated from the provinces of Surigao. The very predominant dialect spoken in the area is Surigaonon.

Age Structure and Sex Distribution - There are 315 males and 313 females at varying age groups. The population has a large young group and quite a group of child bearing age.

Population Growth - 1.04% average.

Population Density and Migration Pattern - For the five-year period 2000-2005, all puroks experienced a decreasing population mainly brought by transfer of residence, and deaths. It will be noted that there is a large young population.

Education - For the very young children, Barangay Embarcadero has 1 Day Care Center under the supervision of 1 Day Care Worker with 10 enrollees putting the day care worker-pupil ratio to 1 day care worker to 10 children. Elementary pupils and high school students are served by the Carrascal Central Elementary School and Carrascal National High School, which are located at Barangay Baybay and Gamuton respectively. Some college students are enrolled at SHSATFI located in Saca. Some are in Saint Michael College, others are in SSIT, both located in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur. There are some who are enrolled at the colleges and universities inside the Philippines.

Economic Profile - Economic resources in the barangay include the utilization of carnava banana into que, which are sold locally; retail or sari-sari store, food processing/bakeshop and milling are the only major economic activity of some of the residents of the barangay. For this economic venture, financing institution such as rural banks provided micro-credit facilities.

Household income of the residents comes from the following sources: Agriculture, Aquaculture, Off-Farm and non-farm (services).
