Pahinungod Festival
Theme: "Padajon sa pagpasalamat kan Nuestra Seņora
sa mga grasya na nadawat"
Rationale: Fiesta is a religious activity. It is a
Filipino tradition in honor of the Patron Saint of a certain of a
certain place. People prepare sumptuous food for the visitors.
Organizations hold activities to liven up the celebration.
But some people forget the real essence of the
event. Some persons overlook the true meaning of celebrating the
fiesta.
Thus Pahinugod came to birth. This is a Mardi Gras
which is performed around the streets of Carrascal. The dancers with
an array of select ethnic dance steps and a kaleidoscope of costumes
would offer their movements and songs to our beloved Patroness, Our
Lady of Mount Carmel.
Background: Hermits who live in the slopes of Mount
Carmel, Israel were dedicated very much to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
When our Lady gave the brown Carmelites Scapular to St. Simon Stock
July 16,1251, the devotion of Our Lady of Mount Carmel spread
throughout the world.
General Objective: To praise and offer heartfelt
gratitude and appreciation to Our Lady of Mount Carmel for all the
blessings and graces bestowed in this town through unique dance
steps and songs.
Next Pahinungod Festival will be July 15, 2010. |
