Municipal Education Sector ProfileB. Education Sector Elementary and Primary Level - Carrascal District is one of the progressive districts in the division of Surigao del Sur when it comes to academic performance. It is composed of 15 schools, 7 of which are complete elementary schools, 6 complete primary schools and 2 incomplete primary schools. It has a total of 99 teaching and non-teaching personnel. In the school year 2001-2002, it has a total population of 2192 school children. The district has one nationally-funded pre-school at Carrascal Central Elem. School and a PTA funded pre-school in Adlay Elementary School. The existing situation of the district in terms of number and type of schools compromising the district, enrollment, number of teachers, number of desks, classrooms, and armchairs in SY2001-2002, is shown Table 5. In terms of facilities, all schools do not have laboratories. Only Carrascal Central, Adlay Community School and Panikian Elementary School have shops, libraries, administrative offices, and clinic, but have incomplete equipments and facilities. Secondary & Tertiary Level - The municipality has three (3) existing National High Schools, the Carrascal National High School (CNHS), which is located in Barangay Gamuton, Panikian National High School (PNHS), which is located in Barangay Panikian, and Adlay National High School in Barangay Adlay. Sacred Heart School of Arts & Technology Foundation, Inc., a private school, offers vocational courses for High School graduates of the municipality.
